March 7, 2023 Izzy Gesell "Staying Balanced in an Unbalanced World: Using “Applied Improv” to Navigate the Changing World".

2023 03 Improvisation for PMs - Izzy Gesell

\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\"Staying Balanced in an Unbalanced World: Using “Applied Improv” to Navigate the Changing World\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\".
We all need to be nimble, attentive, confident and creative these days in order to personally thrive while positively relating to others. Interestingly, the same is true of Improv performers. In fact, the skills that make improvisers successful are the same ones that make non-performers successful, both personally and professionally. Those skills include thinking on your feet, responding quickly and effectively to unexpected events, using your creativity and expanding your comfort zone. Improvisation skills are deceptively powerful tools that help maintain mental and emotional equilibrium by inviting you to safely, enter and embrace the unknown, and learn to relate to others without assumption or judgment. This mindset helps you relate to others in a cooperative way, confidently accept reality, learn to act on things you can control and let go of things you cannot control, and enjoy and value working with others. Think of this session as a learning lab. The theories, ideas and relevancy will flow from group participation, observation of others, and from personal experience and insight. Plus, it will be fun. Participation is completely voluntary. No one will be singled out to volunteer. Takeaways include: An increased understanding of individual, group and organizational functioning. An enhanced ability to influence people, projects and processes. A way to be more comfortable with change, more open to new ideas and less risk averse. A tactic to extend dialogue with those that disagree with you without escalating into conflict. Much improved teaming, leadership & communication skills.

February 21, 2023 Mounir Ajam on Four Dimension of Project Success

February 21, 2023 Chapter Meeting Lunch Event Presenter:

2023 02 Four Dimension of Project Success - Mounir Ajam

Our meeting guest speaker will be Mounir A. Ajam presented "The Four Dimensions of Project Success".

The Four Dimensions of Project Success Project Success remains a topic of high interest, although we do not clearly understand this vital topic. We often talk about success and failure without context, and on this topic, context is a must. For example, where we consider success, are we considering the project owner’s or the service provider’s (contractor’s) perspective? Are we zooming in on technical success, project management success, or objectives success? Many years ago, we developed the Four Dimensions of Project Success to offer a clear context and comprehensive viewpoint on any product delivery project, regardless of the industry or domain. The Four Dimensions is the model that we are incorporating into the Uruk Platform.
