Innovation and PM:  It’s NOT About You!

Only a hermit living in a cave would not be aware of the sea change in our world in the year 2020.  Many project managers (PM) are adversely impacted by canceled projects, lost jobs, and reduced income as a result of massive disruptions in financial markets.  Especially in The Gulf Coast, where we are struggling from low oil prices imparted by the twin fury of OPEC decisions and the coronavirus panic, PMs are searching for what’s next.

As project managers, we are used to managing change, but today’s changes are the most radical and likely to be the most long-lasting most of us have ever seen.  So, as good project managers, we turn to innovation and our basic toolsets to design a path forward that delivers an accepted scope with the lowest cost and fastest schedule.  And while project managers usually take a lead role, this time it is not about us!

In this presentation, we will apply common project management frameworks to two innovation scenarios:  developing a new product and engineering your career.  You will have the opportunity to practice innovation tools that you can apply to project management in your job, your hobbies, and your volunteer work.  You will learn that with innovation and PM, it’s not about you!

Bio
